Danish industrial designer Erik Buch flair for organic and functional aesthetic combined fabric and leather with teak and rosewood.
Buch first success was with this chair, the Model 49, which took its name for the year he designed it, 1949. This naming convention, after the year in which they were conceived, continued over the years with his expansive designs. The chair was produced in two styles - a carver and dining chair - took the market by storm with a curved “floating” seat and a clean Danish style.
Buch himself was very prolific in his designing and built a strong following reputation but personally we know little about his life. Personal details remain a mystery and even his passing is officially listed as 1973, at the young age of 50, but others sources claim is was in 1982.
